Small business for COVID kindness!

Hi! I’m Lily, founder of Lily’s Littles - baby and toddler headwear for the little one in your life. I started Lily's Littles, making baby turbans, because our daughter had no hair for almost a year and I was looking for fun ways to keep her head stylish and warm.

Since COVID hit we started looking for ways to help, and pivoted to offer masks, headbands with buttons and adult turbans with buttons to serve the needs of our community. Proceeds from mask sales help us to donate masks to first responders, healthcare workers and essential workers. We are honored to help keep these healthcare heroes safer at work, and we love spreading stories of how our products are used to promote #covidkindness.

I am a middle school history teacher, but I took this year off to stay home with our daughter Sydney. I've loved sewing since I was a kid (having sleepovers with my best friend and sewing outfits for our American Girl dolls), and I was looking for a creative outlet in this year off from work.

I started making baby turbans last year for Sydney and as gifts. I had an entrepreneur friend encourage me to start my own business, and I launched Lily's Littles. It makes me so happy to see the Littles of my friends in something that I made, I call them Turbanistas!

I miss being in the classroom, especially during these challenging times and during an election year. We also use our voice on social media to promote justice, equity and kindness. The history of our country is a history of struggle, inequality, and diversity. I‘m not in the classroom this year - but if I was I would be speaking with my U.S. History students about our country’s complicated history, and how we came to this moment. We’d be studying the words of people of color, dissecting the founding documents of our country, listening to dissenting voices. Discussing how to grapple with our country’s racist roots and how to move forward. As an educator I support teachers who are leading these difficult classroom conversations, and parents who are engaging with their children about current events.
