The power of human empathy, leading to collective action, saves lives. Ordinary people [...] join together in huge numbers to save people they do not know, and will never meet. Unlike any other creature on this planet, humans can learn and understand, without having experienced. They can think themselves into other people’s places. We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better ~ J.K. Rowling

We do not need magic to change the world - The story about a hackathon-born project to fight COVID-19.

Let's curb the virus together! That was our motto when we started our project - BoxMeo - during the #EUvsVirus hackathon. The purpose was to develop ideas which help to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. But which solution would be worldwide more applicable than ensuring a hygienic usage for facemasks? Facemasks became a critical part in our everyday life, with more than 95% of the world's population requiring wearing facemasks.

With BoxMeo we worked on exactly that solution to ensure a hygienic usage of the facemask with the possibility to disinfect it by using solar energy. In doing so we want to provide a hygienic and sustainable method to inactivate COVID-19. But not only that - our goal is to deliver aid rapidly and unbureaucratically to people affected by the coronavirus pandemic worldwide. We live to give. Thus, with every sold box we will donate one for people in extraordinary need. If you want to know more about BoxMeo check us out on social media or feel free to contact me personally. Till then wear a mask, stay healthy and help us to curb the virus :)

About Me:
My purpose is to embrace entrepreneurship to positively impact billions of people. As said by Winston Churchill “never waste a good crisis” I took the opportunity to engage in entrepreneurial activities during the lockdown of COVID-19. After 6 exciting months, we officially opened the company BoxMeo. Within my M.Sc. degree, I learned about the hardships of entrepreneurship by researching entrepreneurial failure reasons. Nevertheless, I am a strong believer of one entrepreneurial theory - the theory of trying. You will only fail once you have stopped to try. I am grateful for having the opportunity to pursue my purpose and work on solutions that have a positive and valuable impact on our society. I can only encourage everybody to follow your purpose and to make the world a better place – together.
